Castiel is late. Again.
He runs a hand through his hair, tousling it even further, and glances down at his cell phone before realizing it’s dead. With a groan, he pulls himself out of his car and into the pouring rain.
It’s just a couple of long, wet strides to the door of the piano studio. The available hours have been written neatly on the door, proclaiming piano lessons to last from one in the afternoon to six in the evening. Grimacing, Castiel pushes open the door, and a click glance to the grandfather clock in the hallway confirms his suspicions — it’s already nearly seven thirty. Hael is going to kill him.
Castiel ascends the familiar set of white stairs with slumped shoulders, one hand held loosely on the smooth rail. His daughter has been attending piano lessons from the same tutor for nearly ten years. Castiel and his siblings had all received piano lessons during elementary school, but only Anna, always abroad on overseas human rights crusades, had the skill to teach beyond a basic level. When Hael had proved exceptional talent at the age of six, Castiel had been forced to seek out a tutor.
That was how he met Dean Winchester, one of the most gifted yet underrated pianists in the state.
